Cologne Bonn and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airports Become “Sister Airports”
Cologne Bonn Airport and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two airports. Under the agreement, the two airports have become “sister airports.”
Cologne Bonn Airport COO Cenk Özöztürk, who traveled to Istanbul for the signing, said the two airports aim to work more closely together, learn from each other and generate mutual benefits through the partnership.
The cooperation will focus on areas including digitalization, passenger experience, sustainability and the development of new flight connections. Employees from both airports are also expected to take part in reciprocal visits to gain first-hand insights into each other’s operations. Up to seven flights per day currently operate between Cologne Bonn (CGN) and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW).
